Assessment of gender divide in scientific communities

چکیده

Abstract Increasing evidence of women’s under-representation in some scientific disciplines is prompting researchers to expand our understanding this social phenomenon. Moreover, any countermeasures proposed eliminate should be tailored the actual reasons for different participation. Here, we take a multi-dimensional approach assessing gender differences science by representing communities as networks, and using data analytics, complexity methods, semantic methods measure context, attitude success scientists. We apply four two fields computer information systems network authors at conferences. For each discipline, one conference based Italy attracts mostly Italians, while international both location participants. The present paper provides against common narratives that due limited skills and/or less centrality.
